Hair Care Routine

When you’re not sure how to start your hair care routine, the whole ordeal can seem a little overwhelming. There are some things that come naturally for some people and not so naturally to others. If you spend your life looking for things that help you rather than leave you in your comfort zone, you can be sure that you are living your best life. Sometimes the things that make you the most comfortable are not what is best for you. This can often be true of your hair care routine. For example, sometimes you might not feel like taking a shower. You have to push yourself out of your comfort zone to get into the shower, and that’s okay. That’s what your body needs right now to be healthy. Another example lies in the use of argan oil.

argan oil2

You might be wondering what argan oil has to do with anything. Well, the good news is, so am I but we’re going to make it work, you’ll see. Argan oil is good for your hair but it can be of great effort for some people to take the time to work it into their hair care routine. One of the main reasons for this is because argan oil is an expensive oil and it takes effort to find a good quality oil that doesn’t contain other additives. In an attempt to find the perfect argan oil, you might find yourself getting pulled back into your comfort zone.

You might tell yourself things like “well, hair care is not actually that important after all” or “I don’t need to invest in frizz control”. Let me tell you one thing: you would be wrong to tell yourself that. Your hair is often a clue for a whole host of underlying health issues. There are many health concerns that revolve around your hair health including frizziness, hair loss, and damage. These are all things that can be remedied with a couple drops of argan oil. There are many places that sell good quality argan oil but the key is to find the most Moroccan one that works for you and go from there. washing hair1

Another thing that is worth noting is that argan oil is not the only oil that you can use to ensure your hair health. Other beneficial oils include coconut oil, jojoba oil, and also sweet almond oil. Also if you’re looking to achieve healthy hair growth you might want to consider castor oil as another natural, hair beneficial oil to try out today. Anyway, back to getting out of your comfort zone, you need to put your health needs first. If you notice frizz then just rub some argan oil into your hair strands and watch how the frizz just melts away. That’s how you know you have got a good argan oil. It shouldn’t leave your strands super oily but your hair should look revived, refreshed, and most importantly, reflect the fact that  you stepped out of your comfort zone.

Must-Have Items to Pack for a Cruise

When it comes to spending time on a cruise, there are a lot of things that you should prepare for well ahead of time, as once that ship leaves the port, there’s really little chance of going back to pick something up. So be sure to create a list of must-pack items and be sure to double and then triple check your luggage to make sure you’ve got everything you need in case of any eventuality. There are cruise10 items, however, that are 100% crucial to your trip on the high seas, so be sure to cross-check your list with ours to ensure that you’ve got everything you need: 1.) Passport and Identification This is a pretty obvious one but you’ll most likely be left at the port (or stuck on board) if you lose or forget this at home. So make copies and have them authorized just to be on the safe side. 2.) Portable phone, Ipad, and laptop chargers The last thing you want to do is realize you’ve left your charger at home once you’re at sea. While the chances are quite high that you’ll be able to find a replacement on board, no one wants to have to beg or borrow while they’re on vacation. 3.) Formal Clothing Being on a cruise isn’t always sun-tanning and wearing Hawaiian t-shirts. There are formal dinners, plays, and screenings where you may be expected to dress-up a little in accordance with the dress code. So be sure to pack a nice jacket, tie, formal shirt or a nice dress for just in case.

4.) Aloe Vera or After-Sun Lotion Just in case you’ve been burnt, be sure to have a natural skin relaxant or healing balm on hand to reduce the pain and get you on the mend again in next to no time. 5.) Sunscreen lotion with a high SPF It’s generally best to avoid getting burnt in the first place, and using a sunscreen with a high SPF level will be sure to reduce your chances of getting burnt quite dramatically. 6.) Sneakers You may want to workout or go for a jog while you’re on board and you’d be surprised how many cruise ships have onboard gym facilities. So bring a pair along for just in case or those days when it’s too cold for sandals. 7.) A Copy of Your Cruise Travel Insurance You can never be too safe when it comes to insurance and having a physical copy of your policy or cruise1agreement on hand is a good way to keep yourself and your belongings protected in case of an emergency. 8.) Any Medications You Might Need While most cruise ships will have some kind of onboard pharmacy or a doctor’s office/first aid station, they may not stock specific types of medication that you may need for a chronic illness or a specific illness. It’s always a good idea to pack your medication and sometimes even get a little more in case you lose your current supply. You can always ask the first aid officer on board to hold the spares for you so that you don’t lose them or overdose. 9.) Earplugs You’d be surprised, but a cruise ship can be a noisy place. Whether you’re weathering a harsh storm or have to put up with the loud and noisy kids in the next cabin (or running up and down the corridors), it’s best to have some earplugs available so that you can ensure a peaceful night’s sleep. 10.) Laundry Detergent Most ships will have a laundry service available on board, but it’s rarely ever free, especially if you’ve paid for a cheaper package. So be sure to pack a small amount of detergent in your luggage (if it’s permitted) in order to clean your clothes when need be. You can save a lot of cash, for things you’d otherwise be spending them on.

Camu Camu Fruit and its Skincare Benefits

The Camu shrub (aka Myrciaria dubia) is native to the Amazon rainforest. It produces a reddish-like sour fruit plainly known as camu fruit or camu camu camu camuberry. This fruit’s distinction, and its primary claim to fame, is its relatively high concentration of vitamin C. Significantly higher than in ordinary citrus fruits.

Celery juice has also shown a lot of skincare benefits on top of a lot of other physical benefits. It helps with heart health and other benefits. Celery juice can really help to clear you skin up and help to make you feel generally better. Many skin issues are caused by vitamin deficiencies. Not having a healthy diet is vital to being healthy in general. This includes skin health. If you do not have a healthy diet then you will probably not have healthy skin.

This is a vitamin which has been known to be beneficial for the skin in particular. Because of this, there are various vitamin C serums all around the beauty / cosmetics world. When used properly, the vitamin can seriously enhance the look and feel of your skin. Vitamin deficiencies will lead to many health issues. Some of these health issues are also linked to skin issues. Keeping clear skin is linked to diet and also heavily linked to genetics. Unfortunately you cannot do anything to change your genetics.

So, what it is about the fruit? What else does it contain, and how does it affect us? Well, it is an anti-viral agent, which makes it perfect for the coming winter months. It is an anti-inflammatory and astringent substance, which can help with the smooth operation of a variety of everyday bodily functions.camu camu1

It has also been linked – though studies on this fruit are still limited – to prevention of diseases like cancer and diabetes, to aiding fertility and ocular-health, and to improving the state of your skin. Having a proper diet can help with general health and help to prevent many diseases. Vital vitamins help to stop many diseases from coming about. Vitamin C is very important specifically. If you have a vitamin C deficiency you can get a lot of different diseases. You immune system is very connected and its ability to function is vital to have vitamin C. Without vitamin C your immune system will not function properly. Other vitamins and minerals are vital for many part of your body to function properly. Brain function is also is need of several vitamins and minerals to function properly.

Our skin is the largest organ we possess, and while it is a tough layer, it is also quite sensitive. Using the camu berry can do a lot for your complexion, fend off signs of aging, and generally give you a healthier glow. It is a skin revitalizer, and it has been called a skin “superfood”. Even though I don’t usually support those “buzzword” titles, in this case I have to hand it to the camu shrub. It is truly an amazing substance, and is a welcomed addition to any healthy nutrition plan.

My Last First Date

I parked my car. I was actually nervous about parking because I thought I would definitely crash because of how nervous I was. It’s just been so long since I’ve been on a great date with a guy I liked. I was putting so much pressure on this date, which is never a good idea.honey

Even though I was feeling great, something bad had to happen, right? Yeah so just I was about to enter the restaurant, a car drove right up next to the curb and splashed me. I cried. Not at first. I first was so shocked. Then when I realized how bad I looked, I cried. I immediately wanted some honey to calm myself down. There are a ton of benefits of honey, I started eating some when I was craving sweets since I’m trying to shed a few pounds. So as some form of comfort I wanted some honey. As I said, There are a ton of benefits of honey.

It was a huge debate as to what I should do next. Should I text him and say I got sick or should I just go in and tell him what happened. I peeked into the window and I saw that he was already there waiting for me. He looked so good. It made me feel even worse. And I saw him stirring honey into his tea. I wanted to just scream that there are a lot of benefits of honey.

I decided I had to go in. If he doesn’t like me because a puddle splashed me then too bad for him. I waited too long for this moment, I wasn’t going to let some dirty rainwater stop me. I walked in and he didn’t notice me at first. There was still a chance for me to change my mind. I thought about for a second, but then he waved at me. Okay then, no turning back now. He greeted me with the kiss warmest smile ever that I think actually melted my heart. I could barely speak or explain why I was soaking wet, all I could say was that there are a ton of benefits of honey. He was creeped out and said “cool”. I quickly shut my mouth and took a seat.

He actually asked why I was soaking before I even brought it up. I was hoping he wouldn’t notice, I told him what happened and he felt really bad. He even said it should have been him. I then began to wonder what I would have done if he got splashed by a puddle and then canceled on me. I wouldn’t have been able to plan this again. I would have taken it as a major sign of rejection. I just wouldn’t be able to take it.

The conversation flowed so easily. I really enjoyed talking to him, Every second, he smiled I got more and more hooked. I can’t believe I knew him for so long and this is the first time we went on a proper date. There will definitely be more.

Plenty other things here.

Teambuilding Exercises

team1You want to feel comfortable with the people you work with. And now more than ever, HR departments and company owners are recognizing the importance of this. So they’re creating a whole bunch of innovative and exciting ways for people to bond and become more of a family. And there are a bunch of options out there. If you want to bond while also giving back (and naturally getting some good PR in the process), organize a volunteer day. you can do something like cleaning up a beach or painting a center for underprivileged youth. Doing this will have people getting down and dirty, making them let down their walls since everyone is “in this mess” together. It will let people unleash their creativity, and it might even bring up some more sensitive topics for people to discuss. But ultimately, giving back makes people feel happy, and having the opportunity to experience this with colleagues means that they will get to go through something significant together, something that could potentially be a life-changing experience. You never know what cause will really speak to someone, and a one-time volunteer day might ignite a passion within a person.

But let’s say that your office is looking to have some plain and simple fun. Ideas for these types of teambuilding exercises include a Top Chef competition. You can divide colleagues into groups and give them special food tasks. This will challenge each individual to come up with something creative and highlight their strengths. It might cause a drop of anxiety, but if you create the proper atmosphere it can spark a barrel of laughs. Plus, then everyone gets to break bread together afterwards, enjoying each other’s wonderful and different creations. Offer an incentive for the winning team, such as a gift certificate to a local store or an extra vacation day.team

Another option for some fun teambuilding is to simply have some good old-fashioned relay races. What better way to have people smile than by having them act like kids? Add some cotton candy, popcorn and face paint to the mix to really get in the spirit. Alternatively, organize a painting event for your office. Everyone will get to create the same picture, yet people might need to help each other out with painting techniques. It’s a way to highlight some people’s creative skills while giving others a chance to poke some fun at themselves. And lastly, if you have some workers who work remotely, figure out a way to involve them in the fun. This can include an office-decorating competition where everyone Skypes in to show off their work (and to have a judge decide on the winner). Give people a specific amount of time allotted during the workday to decorate their space, and give them a budget as well. Bonus points if you also assign a theme! It will be fun to see what people come up with, plus they will like their working space more.

Never Enough

My favorite song from the movie The Greatest Showman is Never Enough by Loren Allred. The actress in the movie lip synced it so well that I thought it was her. The actress Rebecca Ferguson who the greatest showman 1plays the character Jenny Lind in movie, acts her part so elegantly. My mouth dropped at that part in the movie, like the audience in the movie. It was so divine is the best way to put it.
The song is so moving that I could listen to it over and over again which is what I have been doing.
The lyrics are as follows (as per genius.com);

[Verse: Jenny Lind]
I’m trying to hold my breath
Let it stay this way
Can’t let this moment end
You set off a dream with me
Getting louder now
Can you hear it echoing?
Take my hand
Will you share this with me?
“Cause darling without you

[Chorus: Jenny Lind]the greatest showman 2
All the shine of a thousand spotlights
All the stars we steal from the night sky
Will never be enough
Never be enough
Towers of gold are still too little
These hands could hold the world but it'll
Never be enough
Never be enough
[Post-Chorus: Jenny Lind]
For me
Never, never
Never, never
Never, for me
For me
Never enough
Never enough
Never enough
For me
For me
For me

[Chorus: Jenny Lind]
All the shine of a thousand spotlights
All the stars we steal from the night sky
Will never be enough
Never be enough
Towers of gold are still too little
These hands could hold the world but it'll
Never be enough
Never be enough
[Post-Chorus: Jenny Lind]
For me
Never, never
Never, never
Never, for me
For me
Never enough
Never, never
Never enough
Never, never
Never enough
For me
For me
For me

[Outro: Jenny Lind]
For me
Now you can’t really tell a lot from seeing the words printed on a page necessarily, but you can
tell a little that the lyrics are deep. I guess when something is ever enough” there is always this
yearning and we all know what that feels like. I am pretty sure if you are human you have
yearned for something or someone at some point in your life. I highly recommend seeing the
movie first of all because there is something magical about seeing it and experiencing the music
and songs as they were meant to come in their order (for absolute affect of course) but if you
don’t decide to do that, then please just listen to this song. It will captivate your heart. I am
sure of it.

Pearl Harbour

pearl 1Mrs. Moore was my next door neighbor. She was a very suave older lady that wore fur and always smelt of the finest perfumes. She intrigued me. I imagined she was one of these ladies with 10 cats and maybe 5 ex-husbands! One day as I was leaving my home we crossed paths. She said “why hello dear” and I curtsied with “mam”. Come to think of it, I hope she didn’t take offense to my sudden bow! She asked me how I was and that she had been thinking of asking of inviting me over for tea and cucumber sandwiches. I said that I’d love that and we parted ways not thinking anything of it.
About a week later our paths crossed again and she said “so how about that cup of tea dear”, I said absolutely. We were both coming back from wherever we had been and to be honest I had a little bit of course work to do but I was avoiding it so I agreed to go to her house for tea. To be honest I was so intrigued that I was happy to put off my course work anyway and you never know she may even be happy to help. I was studying History with Journalism you see and well my neighbor looked like she knew history! So I told her I’d be over in half an hour.

I jumped in the shower, lathered my hair with my Tea Tree Shampoo, stood there for some time realizing I was about to have tea with a rather interesting person. For some reason I had this inner sense that she was going to help shape a part of my life in a way. We had only been neighbors for around six weeks but it’s like we had noticed each-other and knew that for some reason our paths were meant to cross. So I jumped out of the shower, threw on some clothes, put a paper and pen in my bag just encase (you could never take the Journalist out of me no matter how hard you tried!). I ran across to her house and she opened the door. “On time dear, that’s a good quality in one’s character she said”. I started to curtsy again but I managed to catch myself doing it and stopped half way through. I entered her mini palace and she guided me so eloquently to her dining room – not a cat insight by the way! We sat down and began to talk. After around 3 cups of tea and 5 sandwiches, 3 digestive biscuits and a taste of her homemade marmalade she started to tell me more about her life. It turns out she had been a nurse in WW2. She had only been 22 when she joined the Military nursing staff.
She continued to tell me that she was very much involved in the turmoil at Pearl Harbor in 1941. She told me that her and her co-workers worked under tremendous pressure during the aftermath of the morning’s raids. She told me she was serving at one of three Army Medical Facilities in Hawaii that ‘infamous’ December morning.

She told me she worked side by side with other civilian nurses and doctors for days on end. She said it was a “mad-house” – to quote her exact words.
I would regularly visit for tea and cucumber sandwiches and she would tell me tea leaf  by tea leaf of her tales. She was so interesting and still so alive. So unaffected it seemed on the outside by what she had gone through with her very own eyes but I knew and could tell after many sittings with her that it had wounded her too. Not like the soldiers she was trying to help save – some of which had fallen and some in which she was able to help rescue. She told me she had received the BronPearl 2ze Star for her service and part in helping to save lives. She told me that she didn’t want a Star that she had just wished she could have saved more lives.

I sat attentively and listened through many cups of tea. I asked her if it would be ok if I wrote a paper on her and she agreed. I asked her how she ended up being my neighbor, we while miles and years away from Hawaii 1941. She progressed to say that that was a whole other story for another time. So… to…be…continued… I guess!

The Glock 17

In 1982, the first polymer-II-based handgun was made available. The Glock 17, designed and built by the Glock Company, was at first a laughing matter and the butt of many jokes. People caglock-17-mos-4-600x381lled it a plastic gun, and said it looked like a toy. People said it will never last. Well, guess who is having the last laugh, after more than 30 years? You can bet your bottom dollar that it ain’t those guys.

It is understandable, though, I guess. I mean, a firearm made of a high-strength nylon? It sounds pretty “iffy”. Sure enough, that was what Gaston Glock offered the Austrian authorities, when they turned to him to submit a design for a bid. The Glock 17 became Austria’s official sidearm. It was carried by police and military, and it soon replaced sidearms all over Europe. Even NATO

Soldater fra taktisk transport tropp på skytebanen utenfor Mazar E Sharif i Afghanistan hvor de trener på skyting med Glock 9 mm pistolSoldiers from tactical transport troop, on a shooting range outside Mazar E Sharif in Afghanistan where they train on

took it into its ranks, and gave it a NATO serial number. Respect.

There have been four different releases, or “generations” of Glocks. The Glock 17 has also gone through these changes, with the Glock 17 Gen 4 being introduced in 2010. The Gen 4 has a new kind of ergonomic grip, and a new recoil system.

The Glock 17 is not ideal for concealment, since it is relatively large, but for open carry you can’t beat it. Here are some quick stats, from the Glock website:

Full size, semi-automatic, 9mm caliber

Gun length – 8.03 inches

Gun height – 5.43 inches

Gun width – 1.18 inches

Barrel length – 4.48 inches

Barrel height – 1.26 inches

Length between sights – 6.49 inches

Weight – 25.5 ounces (unloaded). The Glock is one of the lightest semi-auto 9mm handguns out there. Its light weight is part of what had caused it to become a joke at the time of its release. Loaded, the weight of the gun is 32.12 ounces.

The Glock 17 is used by countless law enforcement agencies and military units, all over the world. It is one of the most reliable firearms out there. Point and shoot. If you can squeeze the trigger, you can shoot a Glock. There is nothing to know or understand. That is part of the allure of a semi-automatic weapon. And one which has a 9mm round to boot? Count me in. the 9mm is one of the most popular self-defense / home-defense calibers there are. It is a very powerful round, and there are those that won’t settle for anything less than 9mm.

I happen to feel that you don’t necessarily need a 9mm round to defend yourself. If you fire a stable shot, and if the encounter is a close one (many civilian encounters are under 15 feet), you will have no problem firing any other round and neutralizing your target. Follow up shots are a different story. I guess many of us train and practice with a handgun, in order to get that recoil recovery and follow up shot business out of the way. Firing a precise follow up shot is imperative. Don’t ever lower your defenses until your target is no longer a threat.

Getting A Glock – 17 vs 19

g17 and 19If you couldn’t tell I am a fan of knives but when it comes to guns I have an opinion too.I’ve recently been debating about getting a Glock. I’m pretty certain about the magazine size I want, but unfortunately I’m being faced with an unprecedented dilemma. Both of the options that match the specifications of what I need are almost exactly alike. Honestly, I am lamenting the fact that there are two best options, truly a dilemma I would wish on no one else (this is of course, sarcasm. I strongly believe that this would actually be an enviable position, if not for the fact that I am currently experiencing it). I can’t decide whether I prefer the Glock 17, or the more compact Glock 19.

To begin with, I can’t even let it be decided by price, with both the Glock 17 and the Glock 19 going for an average of 500$, I can’t just take the cheaper option. Nor can I really choose base on quality, seeing as almost all of the reviews I’ve seen on the subject report little to no difference in performance, with no increase or decrease in durability, accuracy, and precision (for those not in the know, precision refers to how far bullets deviate from a spot if fired at exactly the same place, a precise weapon will always hit the same target when shot a certain way, but it may not be accurate). Honestly the only real difference between the Glock 19 and the Glock 17 are the measurements and the magazine size. Many blog sites compare these two like Gunivore.com. But what all these sites agree on is that they are both top notch.

glock gripThe differences aren’t even that big, at least to me. With the Glock 19 being just about 12 mm shorter than the Glock 17, and weighing about 30 grams less. Obviously, for someone with weaker arms than me, the extra 30 grams might actually make the difference, but I’m a healthy adult male, I’m not going to have any trouble firing a Colt 45, let alone a Glock anything. However, a much more important distinction comes in the form of the magazine size. The default magazine for the Glock 19 is only 15 bullets, two less than the Glock 17’s 17 bullets, which kind of makes sense, given the shorter butt size on the Glock 19. Granted, the Glock 19 can hold a magazine with 17 bullets too, and in fact can hold a magazine with 10 or 33 bullets, as can the Glock 17. However, any magazine over both gun’s standard size (the 17 and 33 bullet magazine for the Glock 19, and just the 33 for the Glock 17) will end up protruding out of the butt. This isn’t the worst thing in the world, but it does look kind of silly, especially when you put the 33 bullet magazine inside of the Glock 17.
At the end of the day, I think I’ll end up going with the Glock 17. I have no need for concealed carry, and I can quite easily handle the extra weight (I actually laughed a bit while writing the last part) on the Glock 17. Frankly, the main selling point for me is just the magazine size. At the end of the day, I’d like a slightly larger magazine that’s actually meant for my gun.

Knives Are My Favorite Tool

Everybody talks about owning a gun for self defense and I totally get it but what I don’t get is why people neglect knives. I remember as a kid always playing with my Dad’s Swiss Army I would find things to cut and try my hand at widdling but the advantages of knives are farther reaching than just widdling. In fact the United States military still issues knives to soldiers because when all else fails a knife can really help.

knife in natureKnives have been used throughout human history. The second we learned how to extract metal from rocks we began making tools that allowed us to survive better. Archeologists have uncovered specimens from all over the world of knives used by hunters to kill animals for food and clothes. Knives have also been used to cut vegetation also for food and shelter. The human race would not have made it this far without the use of tools like knives.

My favorite knife company to date is Ka-bar. They have been around since the beginning of the 20th century and have continued to manufacture knife excellence to this day! The origins of Ka-bar are an interesting one. Apparently when the company began they were known as the Union Cutlery Co. they made knives for trappers and hunters. At one point the received a thank you letter form a trapper that was ecstatic about killing a bear. Some how in trying to write “kill a bear” it read Ka Bar, thus the name of the company was created.

Since then Ka-Bar has been the official knife of the united States Marine Corp. and has been in every major modern war since WWII. The knives that were used previously in the Army were not sufficient for soldiers’ needs in the trenches of Europe so the Army went looking for a better option. They found that better option in Ka-Bar and the USMC Mark 2 Combat Knife became the standard.

Since then many companies have improved upon the knife design. Spyderco is a knife manufacturer that created many features found on knives today, mainly a clip on the grip and the hole on the blade to be able to pull out the blade easier. They make knives for the Coast Guard and many others.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Conceal to carry knives can not only act as a great self-defense weapon but also can get you out of all sorts of trouble. Lets say you get stuck on something and you need to be cut free, well then you’ll just grab for your knife and all is good. My point is that while everyone is busy with their guns they are neglecting another weapon which is more useful in a lot more situations. Do guns have their advantage? Without a doubt they do! But I would bet that if there was a fight between a skill knife handler and a not so skilled gun owner the guy with the knife would probably win the fight. Its something to think about. I carry a knife and that is all that matters.
